| Protocol Screening is the process by which patients are evaluated for research
study participation. Patients are selected for research studies based on
specific study criteria, and undergo a comprehensive medical examination prior
to study enrollment.
To provide the best care for the patient, both the requirements of the
protocol and the needs of the patient are reviewed during protocol screening.
Should a potential patient not be eligible for a research study,
follow-up medical care options will be reviewed with the patient, and if
needed, assistance will be given in obtaining primary medical care.
The Protocol Screening process involves:
 |
A thorough medical evaluation by a registered nurse and physician |
 |
A comprehensive review of your medical records |
 |
An evaluation of your current medical care needs
and issues, and the research studies that are available at the ACRU |
 |
Periodic follow-up if you are not eligible for
a study at the time of your evaluation |
 |
