Deceit
Put simply, I didn't like it. It is not the worst of the books in the series, but it is fairly
close...not that it isn't worth reading(a bad Who book is still a good book, IMHO). Despite having
a lot going for it in the return of Ace to the New Adventures, the story falls flat for me. Ace's
introspective moments are pretty good, and make the book worth reading, if only for them.
Not recommended.

Damaged Goods
Damaged Goods is an interesting experience into the underside. Populated with 'one-of' characters
that could best be described as 'bad' people, it also contains 'good' people who have risen from the
same roots...an interesting reminder that not everyone is the same. Some have questioned a sexual
situation included in the book, but it was vague enough that it shouldn't have offended anyone, except for
one reason: it was so vague that Chris's motivation and feelings about his choice are not very clear, and
the scene ends up being a bit gratuitous, rather than an exploration of the character.

The Death of Art
The Death of Art is a character driven book, based around the conflict between two factions in Paris. An
interesting if convoluted tale, which I had trouble following for quite some time. In the end, however, the
story seemed to pull together quite well. It isn't one of my favorites, though. Be prepared to be confused
about what is really going on for quite some time. A scene with Ace that really could have become quite an
interesting sub-plot, and a certain moment of character development for her, ends up as nothing but padding, and
a bit of a set-up for the story.

Bad Therapy
Bad Therapy was a bit of a rough one for me. The story is not bad, and it should have been more interesting
to me than it was...I just can't figure out why. It is a story of people trying to escape persecution, with
an interesting sub-plot involving an alien planet, and another person's attempt to escape her own particular
prison.
recommended.
Companions: Chris. A cameo by a past companion.
