Learning About HIV And AIDS

In 1985 I learned that a friend, who was also a co-worker, was diagnosed with AIDS. My friend passed away in 1987. I began to learn as much as I could about AIDS.
I must admit that I was afraid...

You see I'm the mother of two beautifully PERFECT, well almost, children. I was concerned for Dean (20 years old) and Wendy who was only 13.

We really liked to go swimming in Jeff's pool. He always made us cool drinks and great food!

I didn't have a clue as to how you could get AIDS. Naturally I had to learn.

WHO projects by the end of the century, 10 million children will become infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

About 50% of people with AIDS were infected during adolescence.

Heterosexual transmission of AIDS among teenagers is nearly three times higher than among adults.

I've become increasingly involved in HIV related efforts,
especially those that concern nutrition, since 1988.
I have started my own business and now
I'm the President of HIV ReSources, Inc!

In the past 12 years HIV has affected me by entering the lives of clients, friends, and family members.

Important Information For Women

A February 1998 report in the Archives of Internal Medicine notes that 40% of the sexually active people living with HIV do not disclose their serostatus to all of their sexual partners. Most alarming is that 57% of these individuals do not use condoms.

I'm a Nutrition Advocate. I know the importance of optimal nutrition especially for people who are HIV-positive.
