TEEN SURVEY: Teens & Freedom - USA WEEKEND (USA TODAY) Survey of 218,350 teens shows 83% opposed to uniforms. Not a shocker, but every once in a while I see people claiming that teens like uniforms. This survey should put that ridiculous claim to rest.

NAESP Press Release - March 20, 1998 I included this article because of an interesting statistic it contains. What was the most commonly purported benefit of uniforms from principals of schools with uniforms? Was it reduction in violence? Improved behavior? Reduced absenteeism? Maybe reduced peer pressure? No, it was none of these. The number one benefit of school uniforms reported from principals of schools with mandatory uniforms was that they believed that uniforms improved the image of their school in the community. I am appalled by this admission on their part - is such a trivial benefit really worth giving up our rights as parents?
