PAC Victory on Child Mailing Lists
The First of Many

On Thursday, August 12th, Florida State Representative J.D. Alexander told PAC representatives that he is planning on introducing legislation to correct the problems concerning the sale or release of our children's private information.

This is a victory for PAC. Our organization broke the news to Michelle Sager of the Tampa Tribune who ran several stories on the issue.

Once again, we see that Glenn Reynolds and the Polk County School Board is out of step with reasonable people when it comes to this issue and so many others. Originally, the board was going to immediately stop selling the lists, but they have since lost interest in the issue and have taken no action. Reynolds has defended selling the lists of children's names, addresses, physical characteristics, etc. as recently as August 8th, 1999 (Lakeland Ledger).

When the Legislature meets in January, PAC will be lobbying members of the Florida State Legislature to make sure that Rep. Alexander's bill is passed quickly and does the best job possible of to ensure the safety of our children.

Thank you PAC members who pressed this issue, and thank you Rep. Alexander for recognizing the seriousness of the problem.

We are making a difference!!!
