I try to keep editorializing on this page to a minimum, but I have to comment on the statement in this article from Auburndale Central principal Gay Martin. She said that students will spend 30 minutes daily on reading test-taking skills. Test taking skills are very important, but spending 10% of classroom time on this topic alone is excessive to say the least. It shows how desperate educators are to have students do well on the tests because it is the only measurement that really counts.
