| Here's a small list of my favorite links. |
|
| Gyro related sites |
|
WWW.ROTORCRAFT.COM - The official host of the Popular
Rotorcraft Association, and many other Gyro related sites. Rich with information,
classifieds, and host of a very valuable discussion group about rotorcraft in general.
Many other Gyro/Rotorcraft related links available from this site, it's almost pointless
to list any other links here, this site has them all! Ralph Taggart's
Rotorbyte Website - See the gyro web site of the man who designed and built the
Gyrobee! You can see many pictures, read his thoughts about different gyro ideas, and even
download the entire documentation package for building a Gyrobee, for free!
Gyrotech - This
company, who has worked with the great Dr. Taggart, sells plans, parts, and kits for the
HoneyBee, Dr. Taggart's next-generation of GyroBee! Definitely check this place out. They
even have parts available to upgrade your existing GyroBee!
Brett
Wendt's Site - Here's another guy building a GyroBee. Definitely check his site out,
he's got some good pics of his construction. |
| Good online vendors |
|
NECX direct - If I had
to choose one place on the Internet to buy all my computer related products from, it would
be from NECX. They have the largest selection, some of the best prices, good online
ordering capability, order tracking, decent shipping charges, all on a well-organized web
site. If you're shopping around for computer goods online, I highly suggest you check them
last. Accubyte
- A good place that sells mostly components.
Neutron
- Another excellent site, their pricing strength seems to be in raw components like RAM,
CPU's, and motherboards, although they have a wide selection of products. They stay on the
cutting edge and are likely to have the latest CPU's for sale. They also update their
prices daily, so when RAM dips low one day, you can stock up! They also have good online
ordering capability with order tracking.
Dalco - Looking for a
weird connector for that obscure hard drive? Dalco probably has it. They are the
cable/connector king, and their prices are right. They have a large selection of products,
too. It may be a little hard to find what you need on there, but use their search function
and you should be in business soon.
Netgrocer -
Finally, now you can do most of your grocery shopping online, and have it shipped right to
your door! I have been waiting years for this place to come along. It's an online super
market, with pictures and prices of all their items, arranged in aisle fashion, or by
drill-down menu or a personalized search. They have a decent selection, good prices, and
their shipping charges are a flat rate of $2.99 for orders under $50, or $4.99 above. I
have been ordering all my groceries from them for almost a year and they have been great.
My single complaint is that they sell only non-perishables! Ah well, I can get milk, bread
and ice cream from the corner 7-11 anyway! |
| Gaming |
|
Blue's News - This site just about has it all,
there's not much point in listing others. If you're into the 3D gaming scene, Blue's is
one-stop shopping for all the pertinent news. They also keep you updated in other
departments such as drivers, ect. Good stuff, I read them every day. |
| Search Engines |
|
Metacrawler - Ok, you need to search for something, but there must be a zillion search
engines out there... Which one should you use? No single one will always find what you're
looking for. Well, Metacrawler queries 6 of the biggest search engines all at once for
you, and returns the results. The Ultimates - Same sort of idea as Metacrawler,
except this site helps you to use multiple search engines for things like white and yellow
page type lookups. Very nice. |
|
Microsoft TerraServer - "I
can see my house from here!" You probably know that spy satellites are hovering
above, watching you all the time. Well, now you can see some of the things they see.
TerraServer is a searchable database of black and white pictures taken from two different
"Geological survey satellites" (one of which I bet is really just a retired spy
satellite) that have resolution good enough to see streets, houses, even cars, from space.
Chances are, you can find your house in this database. The only down side is that most of
the pictures are several years old, but It's still a lot of fun, try it out! NASA Human Spaceflight - Did you know
that you can view a real-time tracking map of the shuttle in orbit? And see live NASA
video? And hear live NASA rebroadcasts of Shuttle audio? All at the same time? Feel like
you're part of the mission! Check this site whenever the Shuttle is in orbit. Try out
their 'Realtime Data, Orbital Tracking' when you do.
JenniCam - What, you've never heard of JenniCam? The JenniCam project is
about, and run by, a woman who has several cameras taking pictures of her bedroom and
living room 24 hours a day. It's supposed to be a study in "real life", but of
course, most people really check it out for that voyeuristic thrill. Go ahead,
click on it. I won't tell. :)
eBay
- If you haven't heard of eBay, then I bet your email address ends in aol.com! Ok, just
kidding. eBay is an online auction, for the whole world. Think of yard sales, garage
sales, Estate sales, and small time businesses, all put together in one place. Even you
and I can sell items on there to the highest bidder. And it works. There's deals to be
made and found. Check it out. If you love a deal, you'll love eBay. |
