My son and my degree in technology to support him better came at approximately the same time.
I must have had twenty different jobs during my adult life, most of which are not worth remembering. The only two that I enjoyed (in the mechanical and the electronics industries) I had to leave for better pay.
And the people I had to work with were, for the most part, a bunch of idiots. Had I not been blessed with my family, I would have found an alternative to work for sure.
By the way, that 1964 Ford Falcon broke down so many times that I became an accomplished mechanic keeping it running.
