Y2K what is it?
Y2K is a cryptic anagram
It stands for Y (year) 2 (2) K (Kilo, meaning thousand)
The Y2K bug is a problem caused durring early electronic computer developement. Memory and storage were like gold (and almost as expensive) so short cuts were used to optimize memory in use and storage capacity. So 1999 would be stored and handeled as 99. The problem occurs when the assumed digits 19 in 1999 becomes 20 in 2000. The old system would read the year 2000 as 1900. Besides this problem, data arays were formed for computations by dividing the data by clock (or calander). The probelm may arise of programs coming to a stop with a "can't divide by zero" error code.
