ABOUT H-T USA

1. Mission: Honky-Tonkin' USA started in 1997 with one purpose - "Help the traveling Country Western dancer find a dance hall to enjoy during their trip." Since that time the mission has grown. While our over all purpose is still the same our objective now is:

"To give Country Western dancers and music lovers a single location on the internet that provides the largest listing, up-to-date information, helpful links and contact points for dance halls, dancers, bands and radio stations that support the Country Western night club industry. And, for each individual state, display this information by region to make it easier for the traveling dancer to plan a trip in the USA."

2. Cost:
A. Free to use - Honky-Tonkin' USA is trying to help the Country Western dancer find a place to kick up their heels while they're on the road. To charge a "user fee" for this help would not be in keeping with the country western way of giving help. Therefore H-T USA is FREE to use.

B. Free to post - The way we see it, if we were to charge "membership fees" for getting listed on H-T USA many "cheep" club managers would be reluctant to have us post the club information. If the club has a web site and would like us to link to it, we do ask for a reciprocal link back to us (Refer to 5B). So to ensure we post as many clubs as possible, and to give the dancers as much information as possible, getting a club listed on H-T USA is FREE.
We will leave a club listed even if it closes or changes format. We do this to inform people that might have visited the club once on vacation that they will now have to find another place to dance. This also prevents people from re-submitting the club again. Another reason to leave the club posted is because several clubs have re-opened or changed back to C/W. Leaving it listed makes it easy to re-post.

3. Web Design: Honky-Tonkin' USA provides the best targeted advertising for Country Western night clubs on the web. Country Western dancers and music lovers alike start their search here for dance halls and honky-tonks in the area they're heading. With this in mind we have decided to give clubs without a web site the perfect place to start their web presence at the right price.

4. Legend/Graphics:

A.		Clicking on this graphic will open a map (from MapsOnUs) to the club that you can zoom in on! Guys don't be afraid to use the map.
B.		Clicking on this graphic will take you back to the map of the USA. (Hint: If your going to a place that is close to the state line, don't forget to try the state nextdoor.)
C.		Clicking on this graphic will take you to a review of the dance hall. The reviews have a wealth of information. Not only about the club but you can find out the weather in that area as well as what hotels are close by. The review pages are large and slow loading but if you wait you'll be taken right to the clubs review.
D.		This graphic indicates sites that have supplied a text link to H-T USA somewhere on their site.
E.		This graphic indicates sites that have supplied a graphic link to H-T USA or a lot of our visitor come from their link.
F.	Banners	We have several to choose from along with an easy to use "cut and paste" code. Come take a look at our ever growing selection.

5. Links:
A. Helpful C/W Sites - We at H-T USA try to make our site as helpful as possible. To this end we belive in posting every link are asked to post, as long as the site pertains to Country Western dance. Sites with good information on regional dance clubs will be listed at the bottom of the individual state pages. Other sites are listed on out Honky-Tonkin' Links page.

B. Reciprocal Links - All we ask for (but not required, as of yet) to be linked on H-T USA is a reciprocal link. We don't think that's too much to ask for and if the link requester is true to Country Western form they would be happy to supply a reciprocal link. We perfer a graphical links but a text link is fine. We even make it easy to provide a graphic link and become a STAR MEMBER with these "CUT and PASTE" codes.

6. H-T BOTM: (Honky-Tonkin' Band of the Month)
A. Honky-Tonkin' USA knows how important a good band is to Country Western dance hall. And while we wish we could get around to hear all of the bands listed on the H-T Bands pages, theres just no way we can do that. So, in deciding which band will become H-T BOTM we have to use another method. Here are a few of the the things we concider when selecting:
1) Which site does H-T USA get the most visitors from? We use the referrer report from our stats progran to find this out.

2) Is the band pure country, pop/country, or southern rock? We look on the site for a song list as well as MP3 or other audio files of the band playing.

3) How well is the bands site put together? We look for a well put together site with good info on the band. If the site doesn't work, loads slow, or looks unprofessional that would be a bad thing. Also we look for a fast loading, good looking logo to post on our site.

4) Does the band have a link to H-T USA and if so did they use a graphic link? That's self explainitory. Remember a graphic link will send more visitors to H-T USA and a link on your front page (index or home vise the links page) counts even more.
(The above are just some of things we concider but none are required to be listed. All our bands are in the running for H-T BOTM.)
