        Her History

Born on the 11th day in month 7 in the second turn before the start of the tenth pass, Kindre was raised at Half-Circle as the youngest of four children. Unfortunately for her, she was also the only daughter of Rakin, a Seacrafter, and his wife Drejerra. When she was old enough, Kin spent most of her time helping out with the usual passtimes: drying fish, mending nets, helping to harvest the crops up on the higher cliffs, some fishing and minor ship repair. Her idle time was spent between painting shells, watching the occassional Benden dragonpairs overhead on sweeps, swimming, and running or hiding from her elder brothers. Jerran, Kin's senior by nearly nine turns, was her guider through most things. Kinjer, the second eldest, and Drerak, though, found the passtime of "torture-our-sister" quite enjoyable nearly until the day she left. At Kinjer's handfasting to Treala (the daughter of another family holder at Half-Circle), both he and Drerak found it rather amusing to ply the fifteen turn old Kin with enough wine to fill a small lake.

When Jerrin was nearly twenty-five, he decided to venture to the infamous Seacraft Hall near Tillek. He thought with his uncanny skill at mapping he'd perhaps have a better future than the impending one at Half Circle. Kindre just wanted out. Not truly rebellious, at nearly sixteen, she just wanted to "see Pern" and Jerrin's trip afforded her that supposedly glorious option. Rakin and Drejerra were both terribly reluctant, but agreed to let her accompany Jerrin. The two siblings set out on their journey to the "North" with a lot of exuberance and little forethought. Jerrin had tired of the quest halfway there, but they made it to the Hall in six sevendays. Upon arriving there, he paid a young journeywoman to keep her eye on Kindre (who obviously loved the place) and took up with a Trader family.

Terribly shy, Kindre ended up helping the Journeywoman with some of her duties and even got talked into helping out one evening in the Rusted Hulk, never truly apprenticing to the Craft. She might have, eventually, had Elyandra's green Zibrith not found her -so- interesting one early eve after the pair had been preparing to enter the Hulk. The wide-eyed Kindre was suddenedly being asked if she would honor Benden Weyr by standing for Weyrwoman Jehrina's Gold Leilanth's second clutch. *Blink?*...
