When Tom and Jeff were young, they wanted to be astronauts. Their mothers said that it would be hard work, because they had to study hard and learn how to control the spaceship. They also had to learn how to put on the space suits. Tom and Jeff had to study in school for many years.
Tom and Jeff found a baby rat when they were ten years old that they kept as their pet. The rat lived at Tom's house because his mother did not mind the rat being around. They had to keep it in a cage and make sure that it stayed in the cage. Tom and Jeff liked to play with their pet rat by watching it run on its wheel. They made mazes with cheese for the prize that they liked watching the rat run through.
Tom and Jeff are now adults. They are astronauts. They still own the pet rat. The rat was taken on their spaceship to be their company while they were traveling in space. The rat made a hole in the lining of the spaceship by chewing on the lining. Tom, Jeff, and the rat are going to the moon.
As the spaceship takes off , Tom and Jeff begin to steer the spaceship to the moon. The emergency lights start flashing! Tom sent Jeff to see what the emergency was. Jeff saw that the rat was eating a hole in the lining of their spaceship! Jeff grabbed the rat and put him back in his cage. Tom was steering right toward the moon. Tom lost control of the spaceship and crashed onto the planet moon. The radio did not work, so now Tom, Jeff, and the rat are stuck on the moon!
Tom thought that he and Jeff could fix the radio. They did manage to fix it because they knew all about radios. Tom and Jeff contacted NASA and asked for help!
They needed a new spaceship to take them home to earth. NASA sent up a new spaceship with their other best astronaut friends. The spaceship arrived and took Tom, Jeff , and the pet rat home.

On a dairy farm in Pennsylvania lived two brothers named Jack and Chris. Jack and Chris always loved playing football. Both boys had chores on the farm which helped them to develop immense muscles for playing football on their free time when all of the chores were finished.
Whenever possible, Jack and Chris practiced playing football. When Jack and Chris were older, they both received a football scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania. They were excited that they were both accepted to a football university! Jack and Chris knew that they would do well since they practiced all year long. They still ran all summer one or two miles each day to stay in good shape for playing football in the fall.
After four years of college, Jack and Chris thought that they could advance and go to the NFL. Jack and Chris had to really think about what they would be doing since the NFL is professional football. Both had called to see when the official tryouts would be. Jack and Chris would be trying out for the same team so it would not get too complicated about attending the games for their parents. They wanted to get on the Pittsburgh Steelers because Pittsburgh was in Pennsylvania and it would be easier for their parents to come to their games.
Jack and Chris attended the official tryouts on Tuesday. When they arrived, they were surprised to see how long the line was to register for the tryouts. They were also surprised how big the field was. When they finally got up to the registering table, it was about three o'clock in the afternoon. They were told that they would be trying out at the east field. It took them about fifteen minutes to get to the east field since the registration table was on the west side of the field.
Their first obstacle was to throw the football to another player. They had to run a mile as quickly as possible. The tryouts took about an hour and a half. Jack and Chris felt that they had done well, but they were very tired.
The next week Jack and Chris were called by the coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers and he told them that practice was on the following Wednesday. They had both made the team!

On Saturday Smoky, a German Shepherd puppy, lost his owner's Frisbee. Smoky was very upset, so he went next door to his dog friend's house. Spot and Smoky had been friends for about three months. Smoky asked Spot, "Do you know where my Frisbee is?"
"Yes," Spot replied. "Big Giant Lucky took it from your yard."
The next day, Sunday, every dog on the block came over to Spot's house including Smoky. Smoky asked, "Why is every dog on the block over here?" Then, Spot answered, "We're all here to help you fight Big Giant Lucky!" Smoky said, "I do not want to fight, I just want my Frisbee back!"
Then all of the dogs went to Big Giant Lucky's yard, not listening to Smoky. A very big dog came out into the yard. Smoky asked, "Big Giant Lucky, is that you?" Big Giant Lucky replied, "Yes, but please call me Lucky."
"You took my Frisbee!!!" yelled Smoky. "No, I didn't," Lucky said. Spot replied, "I have proof! I saw you pick it up!" "I know. I did pick it up, but then I put it back down," explained Lucky. All of the dogs sighed and then went home.
One day later, on Monday, Smoky's owner, Melissa, got back from Bayview. After she did all of Mrs. Henderson's homework assignments, Melissa went outside to go and play with Smoky. Smoky thought the Frisbee was still gone which made him feel very upset. As Melissa came outside cheerfully, she hollered to Smoky, "Let's play Frisbee!" She took out the Frisbee which had been in her room under the bed. Smoky thought to himself, "I guess I'm a very lucky puppy!"

Lindsay said to Amy, "I would have let you borrow it. All you had to do was ask." "I'll ask next time I use something of yours." "Well, you better," said Lindsay "or I'll take something of yours. So you can get a taste of your own medicine.
