Saturday, August 8th, Annual Spruce Up, Paint Up Day for Coral Ridge!
|
| Your Coral Ridge Association, led by John and Dori Aurelius, launched our annual event to clean up and beautify Coral Ridge Entrances.
Starting at 8:00 A.M. with coffee and Crispy Creme Donuts, dispensed by gracious Dori Aurelius, the following members with the Aureliuses tackled the task of repainting the yellow curbs on medians on BayView Drive near Sunrise Blvd. and at the 26th Street entrance on Middle River Drive.
Armed with pink and yellow paint cans and brushes, shovels and rakes, President Harriet Kaye, Ron Laffey, Brian Leary and his son Chris, and Bill Ciani weeded flower beds around the Coral Ridge sign, removed tired old plants and planted a truck load of red bougainvillas and fox tail ferns in the median flower beds. If the next time you see Harriet Kaye her hair is still painted pink in the front, you will know that paint doesn't wash out! It was work, but fun too, and needed, and gave us a satisfying feeling to keep our lovely Coral Ridge its beautiful best.
There is still much to do. We will organize another work day soon. Please join us and help for a few hours. John Aurelius has this so well organized, and many hands make light work!

Doris Aurelius trims back the bushes and the tree that engulfed a wall at the intersection of Middle River Drive and 26th Terrace. |
 |
Harriet Kaye puts a fresh coat of paint on the same wall that Doris cleared. It is a beautiful change. It can't be seen in this picture, but Harriet has paint in her hair! |
 |
Ron Laffey and Doris double check their work. All new plants were well fertilized. |

John Aurelius carries trimmed branches to the truck. Thank you John. |

With Brian Leary raking away, John and Bill Ciani pause to look up at the camera. These people gave us their best! |

Brian's son, Chris Leary, cuts away at the bushes at the Bayview entrance off of Sunrise Blvd. |
