President's Message

As we look forward to enjoying life in beautiful Coral Ridge in the New Year, we look forward to an even better more constructive and fruitful year in 2001.

Our CRA Christmas Parties were both well attended and enjoyable. The Children's Party on Saturday, December 9th was well attended and fun for the children.
Santa arrves!

Santa arrives to the Children's Party!
Because of all the construction in George English Park, we asked the City to close Coral Ridge Drive between 14th and 16th Streets for the party. We hope George English Park will be available by next Christmas. Our Santa arrived to the Children's delight and many had their pictures taken with Santa.
Seminole Drive had biggest group!

The biggest group was from
Seminole Drive!

Both sides of the street were filled with trampolines and similar children's delights, and we provided pony rides and other exciting events.

The adult Christmas Dinner Party at Coral Ridge Yacht Club was attended by 83 CRA members who enjoyed a delicious turkey dinner. Santa arrived with a bag full of gifts for the ladies and many members enjoyed dancing to Eddie Stevens and his Jingle Bell Band.

We begin our new year with some changes in our officers' duties. After 11 years as our Newsletter Ediyor, BETH HANDLEY has asked to be relieved of that job, although she still remains on the Board. She surely did a great job and we surely appreciate her dedicated work. RON LAFFEY is our new Newsletter Editor, as well as our online webmaster, and in fact this issue will be Ron's first newsletter. JOSIE HOUSE is our new Membership Chairman and is working hard and doing an outstanding job. PAUL DOOLEY has volunteered to be Corresponding Secretary and will call Board Members to notify them of Board Meetings.

The Recycling Program sponsored by the City of Ft. Lauderdale has recognized the outstanding accomplishments of the Coral Ridge Association. The City asked President HARRIET KAYE and our Recycling Chairman DIANE MASSEY to be present at a recent City Commission Meeting, and presented our CRA with a check for $798.00 as our Recycling Incentive Award Prize. We appreciate Diane's outstanding accomplishments. She does a fine job for us.

ARLENE BOTHWELL does a great job delivering her Welcome Baskets to new homeowners in Coral Ridge. A lot of time and talent is consumed to do her job, and we thank her.

Our City Traffic Engineer, Peter Partington has engaged traffic consultants Hughes Hall to meet with Coral Ridge Residents from Sunrise Blvd. to Commercial Blvd. to discuss "Traffic and Speed on BayView Drive." The final public meeting was held on February lst at 7:00 P.M. at Christ Church, 2845 N.E. 25th Ave.

All Coral Ridge residents were invited to attend and express their views. Some who attended the previous meeting had a laissez-faire attitude. Almost everyone at the meeting opposed having speed humps built on BayView Drive. At its January Board Meeting the CRA voted to suggest narrowing BayView Drive by having median strips built in the middle of BayView Dr. at strategic locations. These would be planted and would beautify the street, as well as discourage traffic.

If you haven't already done so, please pay your CRA dues for 2001 with the Membership Application below. Remind your neighbors that our dues are only $25 a year for the entire family. Last year we had the largest membership of any homeowners group in the city. LET'S KEEP IT THAT WAY!

Remember, in unity there is strength!

Yours for a better Coral Ridge,
HARRIET KAYE
President
