Welcome to the page with all the fine print! All portraits on these pages were created by Lynn Van Couvering.
Medium
Lynn's drawings are gallery-quality works of art, created in either
pen & ink, graphite pencil, colored pencil, or one color from the
palette
of colored pencils, on either white or colored paper or illustration
board.
Colored pencil is Lynn's absolute favorite medium because of the
precision
with which it can be used, as well as the limitless possibilities of
this
wonderful medium. When properly matted, framed, and hung,
these
portraits will not yellow or fade. Portraits make very
thoughtful,
unique gifts, and will be treasured for generations. If you want
to see tears of joy and love, give someone the gift of a portrait.
Paper
The best color paper will be chosen by the artist, unless otherwise
specified. The most popular colors are grays and earth tones,
ranging
from cream to dark brown. Black is also very striking for certain
subjects.
Photo Tips
Please send clear, sharp, close-up photos. Avoid using flash;
it flattens out details. Natural, outdoor light is best, or
indoor
light with 400 speed film in a good camera. The quality of the
photos
is very important, as you will get the best possible likeness from the
best possible photos. It is a good idea to shoot a whole roll of
35 mm film, from different angles and in different light. Then
choose
the best shots. Try to have the eyes clearly visible, especially
for color portraits and head studies. A 3/4 view, or one in which
the face is somewhere between a profile and a full frontal view, is
best.
Take your time and get some good photos to work from, then package them
carefully, along with your filled-out order form and check for 50%.
Ordering
(Temporarily not accepting
new commissions due to long waiting list. Please check back!)
When you have your photos ready, refer to the
price list, and use the printable
order form. Place your photos in a photo mailer, or insert a
piece of stiff cardboard into your envelope to keep photos from being
damaged
in the mail. If you are using valuable photos, you might consider
making good quality color copies (even for black and white photos,
because
color copies are much more detailed), and sending those instead.
If you would rather send the original photos, please ask for insurance
from the Post Office. It is well worth the small
cost.
Please include a check or money order for 50%, payable to Lynn Van
Couvering,
and mail to Lynn Van Couvering, 1630 Williams Hwy., #240, Grants
Pass, OR 97527.
Balance will be due COD. (This information is on the printable order
form,
so you do not need to print this page.)
How and When will the Finished
Portrait
be Shipped?
Your finished portrait will be shipped balance due COD in two to
twelve weeks, as will your photos. (There may be delays in the
three
months before Christmas.) To avoid COD, pay the full amount in
advance.
Black & white, pen & ink, and one color portraits will be
completed
and shipped much sooner than full color, so if you have a close
deadline,
you might want to consider those choices.
If you have questions, please E-mail the artist!.
