LIVE RADIODOWNSIDE: Must have at least a fast 486 PC or MAC equivalent. You must have a sound card on your computer. Dial-up Internet connection less than 28.8 may not work. Minimum connect speed for voice is 14.4. Minimum connect speed for music is 28.8. You will get audio dropouts 1 to 5% in terms of time for voice programs. Dropout rates are more frequent on mono music programs and even more frequent on stereo music programs.
UPSIDE: Audio normally originates from local radio stations. It is like being there and listening to the radio - local advertisements - local traffic reports. Live is every thing!! While you listen, you can do other things with your computer such as email, games (no audio), and any other program that does not require heavy online support.
SETUP: Download and install free software (RealPlayer and Windows Media Player). Follow the instructions from the links below. This will take some time and patience.
FINDING A SPORTS EVENT: Look up your favorite sport team's home page on search engines which will direct you to the correct connection.
HINTS: Stay logged on to a connection for a few minutes. Dropout rates may improve as your computer synchronizes with the transmitting computer.
UPDATE 10-99: Front end software to your browser that filters pages for advertisements and other junk such as adult sites may interfer with live-streaming audio and video. Disable such software while experiencing live streaming programs. The quality of live streaming audio/video has improved in the last year but all of the rules above still apply.
